Frequently Asked Questions
-
Your first session will be a chance for me to find out more about how I can support you and learn how everything you’ve been carrying has impacted your daily life. I’ll ask you questions about your background and together we’ll talk about your goals for therapy.
-
Sessions are typically 55 minutes. Most people plan on spending an hour in each session.
-
The length of therapy varies from person to person. Some people find that they only need a few months of therapy, while others appreciate long-term support. We’ll work together to check in on your goals and evaluate if you’re in a place to end therapy.
-
Session frequency can vary from person to person, and can change depending upon treatment modality. When first beginning therapy, it can be helpful to attend once per week to help kickstart the process and establish rapport between you and your therapist. However, not everyone’s schedule or budget allows for weekly therapy, and that’s okay! Sessions every two weeks can be just as effective. Once you’ve made progress with your goals, you’ll typically reduce your frequency to every other week or even monthly.

Radiant Counseling Center is in network with most major insurance carriers, including Kaiser, Aetna, United, Cigna, and Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield. Each insurance plan can vary with how much they cover for mental health services, so be sure to check with them to verify coverage and copay. Read more about fees and insurance here.
-
Payment depends on insurance coverage. Some insurance plans fully cover therapy at no cost to you, while others can require a copayment. Check with your insurance provider to determine what your cost will be. Private pay sessions will be charged after each session.
-
Your scheduled time is reserved especially for you. To protect that time, there is a cancellation fee of $150 for all no-shows and appointments cancelled within 24 hours of the scheduled appointment.
-
It is completely normal to feel stuck or unsure what to talk about. I can help guide the conversation and redirect you to your therapy goals.
-
Finding the right fit is one of the most important factors when it comes to therapy. I offer complimentary consultations to help determine if we’re a good fit. If not, that’s completely okay. There are plenty of clinicians out there and I’d love to help you find the right fit. Some signs you’ve found the right fit are:
You feel comfortable being open with your therapist
You feel emotionally safe and respected
Your autonomy is respected and encouraged
You leave sessions with more hope or insight
Your boundaries are respected

Though Radiant Counseling Center offers Christian counseling, Christian counseling is completely optional. We welcome clients of all backgrounds and beliefs. It is completely your choice as to how much of your faith you would like to incorporate into therapy.
